Learning from stories
Aims of the activity[edit]
Support participants to understand the different forms of digital stories and what informations about people’s lives can be found in them.
Resources, Materials needed[edit]
- Flipchart paper and pens.
- Projection facilities with sound.
- 3 x example stories.
Duration in minutes[edit]
45 - 60 minutes.
Step-by-step - what has to be done[edit]
1. Select 3 different types of digital stories.
2. Show each story one-by-one to the participants (i.e. display a social media post/exchange on the screen, play a video interview etc.).
3. After each story, ask the participants to collate these ideas onto a piece of flipchart using a table:
- What is the story’s name?
- What type of story is this?
- What was the key message/idea of the story?
4. Summarize the table results to the participants.
5. Use the flashcards from previous activity (if required) to help this activity.
